VELVET is a performance about power. In order to approach the subject, five female performers including a DJ, use different work processes, drawing their inspiration from diverse sexual practises and power games. They mix references and take on different positions and roles. They manipulate objects, and play with materials: velvet, iron, gold, glitter, plastic and pearls collide and coexist.
Through their games, they create a world which is simultaneously satirical and expressionist, frivolous and austere, obscene and puritan.
The exposed bodies take turns being subject or object. They can be fragile, powerful, vulgar or intelligent, but they are always expressive, laying bare recurrent mechanisms of power and our fascination for it.
